Elderly couple escape fire

A rude awakening in Kamloops… smoke and flames.

Fire investigators will be back on the scene Monday of a house fire in the Barnhartvale neighbourhood of Kamloops.

Early Saturday morning around 3:15 a.m., Kamloops Fire Rescue were called to the home at 1264 Bel Air Drive.

When crews arrived, smoke and flames were billowing out of the home.

"There were four occupants in the house, including an elderly couple, and all four got out safely," said Assistant Chief of Operations Curtis Bossert.

Bossert tells InfoTel News there's extensive damage to the home and it's not liveable.

The four people who escaped with their lives are now in the care of Emergency Social Services.

No cause of the fire has been determined.
