Warm weather, chance of frost in the Okanagan this weekend

OKANAGAN – Day time temperatures will remain above seasonal normals this weekend but overnight lows mean there is a chance of frost in parts of the Okanagan.

Environment Canada is calling for highs of 17 Celsius today, Oct 16, and 16 C Saturday and Sunday in the Vernon and Penticton areas while Kelowna will see a high of 16 C all weekend. Further south near Osoyoos the mercury will rise to about 21 C today and tomorrow. The seasonal normal high temperatures for this time of year is 12 C throughout the entire Okanagan.

In Vernon and Penticton temperatures are expected to drop to 5 C tonight and just 8 C Saturday night. Kelowna will see similar lows, though with 4 C forecast as a low tonight the weather office is also calling for a risk of frost in the Central Okanagan. The seasonal normal low is 3 C throughout the region.

Overhead the skies will be mainly sunny today and tomorrow and then a mix of sun and cloud on Sunday. There is a chance of rain Saturday night and Sunday during the day.
