ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Anchorage police have arrested a 22-year-old suspect in the shooting of a teenager outside an east-side elementary school.
John-Rexie Lagman was held on suspicion of felony assault and reckless endangerment. He remained jailed Wednesday at the Anchorage Correctional Complex. It’s not known whether he has an attorney.
Police say a group shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday was at a basketball court outside Williwaw Elementary School and an altercation broke out.
Police say a man pulled out a gun and fired several rounds, striking the teenage boy. Everyone involved fled.
The injured teen collapsed on the street that borders the school grounds. A witness called police.
The shooting victim was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Patrol officers found Lagman in the area and detained him for questioning.
