PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Cougars defeated the Kelowna Rockets 3-0 on Friday night, Oct. 17, at the CN Centre in Prince George, in the opening game of two this weekend between the WHL BC Division rivals.
Veteran netminder Ty Edmonds earned the shutout and the Cougars outshot Kelowna 41-35 with Prince George scoring a goal in each period of the game.
The Rockets fell to 6-4-0-0 with the loss.
The Cougars were 1-for-6 on the power play while Kelowna was 0-for-2. Jackson Whistle suffered the loss in net.
The Rockets and Cougars will meet again on Saturday in Prince George.
The teams are in a stretch of games where they play each other three straight times as the Rockets and Cougars will also meet next Friday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna.
