Man serving sentence for second-degree murder dies in British Columbia prison

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – An inmate who was serving a sentence for second-degree murder at the Pacific Institution has died in custody.

Correctional Service Canada says 72-year-old Thomas Taylor died on Jan. 27 at the prison in Abbotsford, B.C.

No other details about the circumstances of his death were released, but the service says the police and the coroner have been notified, which is normal practice.

The service is also conducting its own review.

The service says Taylor began serving an indeterminate sentence for second-degree murder on March 9, 2001.
