SALT LAKE CITY – The Latest on the funeral for former U.S. Sen. Bob Bennett (all times local):
3:14 p.m.
Hundreds of people gathered in Salt Lake City on Saturday to remember former U.S. Sen Bob Bennett of Utah, who died earlier this month from complications of pancreatic cancer and a recent stroke.
Mourners at a Mormon church included former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch.
The service was followed by a burial at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
Bennett, who was 82, was known during three Senate terms as a Republican who could get things done in Washington and work across the aisle.
He lost a re-election bid in 2010, becoming one of the first incumbents booted out by a rise in tea party-fueled anger.
