Pedestrian suffers minor injuries after struck by vehicle in school zone

SALMON ARM – RCMP are praising witnesses for helping them understand how a vehicle in a school zone struck a pedestrian causing "minor injuries."

According to a release today, Sgt. Scott West says the collision happened at or near a crosswalk at roughly 2:30 p.m. on 30 Street Southeast. 

He doesn't say how old the pedestrian was, but witnesses said the driver was paying attention and driving at school zone limits.

"Police believe at this time that a moment of inattention on the part of the pedestrian was the major causal factor in the incident," he said. "This is one of those cases where emergency services personnel are glad that everyone involved is OK. We would also like to thank the witnesses for remaining in the area and providing their account of what they saw happen. Their account of what happened was instrumental in determining what actually occurred."
