Research vessel stolen from remote North Okanagan lake

VERNON – Police in Vernon are on the lookout for a university’s stolen research vessel.

The boat, a 12-foot aluminum Crestliner with no motor, was moored in Kaiser Bill Lake, just south of Lavington, but was stolen sometime between Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says.

The boat belongs to the University of Calgary, and was being used for a research study.

A 200 foot long mesh net was also stolen. The value of the boat and the net are not known.

Anyone with information about the missing boat is asked to contact the Vernon RCMP detachment at 250-545-7171 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
