Germany: Police search for remains of dismembered woman

BERLIN – Police with sniffer dogs are searching a road in western Germany for traces of the remains of a woman believed to have been killed and dismembered two years ago by a couple also suspected in another death.

Officers on Monday searched a 2-kilometre (1 1/4-mile) stretch of road near the home of the suspects outside the town of Hoexter. They’re looking for tooth or bone fragments from the victim.

One of the suspects earlier this month told investigators that she had been involved in killing a 33-year-woman in 2014. According to police, she has said the victim’s body was cut up and stored in a freezer, and pieces were burned in the couple’s fireplace over time. The ashes were then sprinkled by the side of the road.
