Motorcyclist facing several charges following crash

KAMLOOPS – Mounties say alcohol and speed are likely factors in a single vehicle motorcycle crash that closed Highway 1 for an hour last night.

Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Lane Jumaga says the 25-year-old was speeding on Highway 1 at Columbia St. West around 9:35 p.m. when he lost control and struck the cement barrier. He was thrown and came to a rest west of the Columbia St. West on-ramp.

He was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries while the highway was closed for an hour and police investigated the role alcohol and speed played in the accident.

'The driver is facing several charges in relation to these factors," Jumaga said.

Any witnesses to this accident are asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
