Gordon Lightfoot makes ‘Plans of My Own’ his first new song in 12 years

TORONTO – Gordon Lightfoot is digging into the archives to give listeners his first unreleased track in 12 years.

The “If You Could Read My Mind” singer announced Wednesday that “Plans of My Own” will arrive at digital retailers and streaming music services on Nov. 18.

The song was recorded in 2001 and “showcases Lightfoot on his signature 12 string guitar and singing at his best,” his record label said.

Lightfoot is plowing through a number of U.S. tour dates this month before a series of Ontario shows in November. The cities include Chatham, Kitchener, Belleville and Ottawa.

He’ll also continue his annual tradition of a run of shows at Toronto’s Massey Hall from Nov. 23 to 26.
