Vernon man accused of murder released from custody

VERNON – An 18-year-old Vernon man accused of murder is no longer in custody.

Brandon Wellington, who stands accused of second degree murder in connection with the death of Jason Hardy, was released on bail Monday, Oct. 26. His bail is set at $10,000 and he must adhere to a number of court-ordered conditions.

Greater Vernon resident Tal Kalum La Riviere, 28, and a 14-year-old Vernon boy whose name is protected, are also charged with second degree murder. The 14-year-old was released on bail Sept. 22.

Hardy’s body was discovered in Polson Park the morning of Aug. 26. Police aren’t commenting on the details of the incident, such as the relationship between the accused people and Hardy’s cause of death. RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy has previously said police have a ‘very strong case’ against the trio but police are still looking for someone they believe was in the park at the time of the incident.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
