Congresswoman blasts internet posting of private images

WASHINGTON – A congressional delegate from the Virgin Islands says it’s a “shockingly disgusting” invasion of her privacy for private images of herself, her husband, and their family to be stolen and leaked on the internet.

Del. Stacey Plaskett issued the statement regarding the leak of “personal photographs and a private family video” after news organizations reported that the material involved nudity.

Plaskett said her office is working with the FBI in its investigation of the incident, which she called a violation of both territorial and federal law.

Plaskett won her seat in 2014 and faces a primary this month in her re-election bid for the non-voting position. She said the posting of the images online “marks a new low in Virgin Islands politics.”
