Saskatoon man struck by car and killed in Kelowna Halloween night

KELOWNA – A Saskatoon man was hit by a car and killed in Kelowna early Sunday morning.

According to witnesses, the 24-year-old man, dressed all in black, was standing in the middle of the road when he was hit.

RCMP say it happened just before 2 a.m., Nov. 1, in the 2800-block of Old Vernon Road.

“The driver of the car remained on scene and the pedestrian was tended to by an off-duty firefighter until Emergency Health Services arrived and transported the man to hospital,” Kelowna RCMP Cpl. Joe Duncan says in a media release.

The man was rushed to Kelowna General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Duncan says Kelowna Traffic Services and an RCMP traffic reconstructionist conducted a detailed scene analysis.

RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service continue to investigate.

The victim’s name hasn’t been released.
