WAVELAND, Miss. – New Orleans developers have an agreement to buy a water park and hotel in a Mississippi county, where they have purchased more than 20 properties.
The Sun Herald reported Friday that Jim and Catherine MacPhaille have an agreement to purchase the hotel and waterpark in Waveland.
Jim MacPhaille says their plans include tearing out the waterpark. He says a swimming pool will be built behind the hotel and the new entrance will face Mississippi 603. The newspapers say the hotel has 75 to 80 rooms with outside entrances.
Waveland Mayor Mike Smith says the hotel sits on one of the most important intersections south of Interstate 10 in Hancock County. Smith says he expects the new hotel to attract other development in the area.
