US Virgin Islands cop charged in deaths of 2 fellow officers

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, Virgin Islands – A policeman in the U.S. Virgin Islands has been charged in the killing of two off-duty officers whose bodies were found on a beach last month.

Gov. Kenneth Mapp said Thursday that Francis Williams Jr. is accused of fatally shooting a female and male officer Aug. 11 on the island of St. Croix. Williams previously had been charged with stalking in the case.

The victims were identified as Lesha Lammy and Kai Javois.

It was not immediately clear if Williams had an attorney. He faces 11 counts, including first-degree murder and first-degree assault.
