Twin Peaks gets Kelowna-themed reboot

KELOWNA – Fans of the 1990s cult favourite TV show Twin Peaks will have a chance to relive the moody adventures of FBI agent Dale Cooper as he tries to unlock the mysteries of the sleepy Washington town. Except this time, it's set in Kelowna.

New Vintage Theatre is bringing the David Lynch-directed show back to life as a live, improvised soap opera this Saturday, Nov. 7, at The Black Box theatre.

The Showcase cable network is producing an updated version of the original miniseries slated for release sometime in 2017.

Originally on the TV line up for 2016, with Lynch himself set to direct, ugly creative differences with the notoriously strange filmmaker have Lynch off the project and the production is delayed leaving fans waiting, according to a media release from the theatre group says.

So New Vintage Theatre decided to do their own take on the show as part of a popular improvised soap opera they run on a monthly basis.

The audience will get their own slice of damn fine cherry pie and coffee included with the price of every ticket, which they can enjoy at the R and R Diner with One Eyed Jack and blues music. Audience members are encouraged to dress in red, black or white to truly get the Twin Peaks experience. 

“Maybe some will even bring their own log to talk to or don an eye patch,” Bonnie Gratz with New Vintage says in the release.

The show happens Saturday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Black Box Theatre. Tickets are $20 if purchased here in advance or $30 at the door (cash only). Members get two tickets for the price of one.
