Lake Country man arrested for lighting house on fire

LAKE COUNTRY – A Lake Country man has been arrested for a suspicious fire at a house on the corner of Highway 97 and Beaver Lake Road this week.

Emergency services were called to a fire at a house at 3109 Beaver Lake Rd. around 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 2. A bystander, Dean Bose of Oyama, says he saw a woman with a bloody hand standing on the front lawn and a man in his 50s or 60s running across Beaver Lake Road.

He says she told him her ex-husband was trying to light the house on fire.

According to Bose, a second bystander held the ex-husband on the ground while Bose helped the injured woman.

"She said something about a divorce or they were separating… and that he tried to drag her back into the house."

Wade Farrell is facing charges of arson damaging property and possession of incendiary material and will appear in court Nov. 19, according to a Global Okanagan report.
