Serious Vernon car crash sends one to hospital

VERNON – A serious two-car crash just south of Vernon Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 97 and College Way sent one person to hospital.

Coldstream firefighters, RCMP and B.C. Ambulance responded to the crash at about 12:40 p.m., Nov. 7.

Coldstream deputy chief Bryce Green says one of the vehicles jumped a median in the intersection, sideswiped another vehicle, hit a traffic light pole and then flipped over into the ditch.

The driver, and lone occupant, in the flipped vehicle was taken to hospital by ambulance. No word on how badly he was hurt.

The two people in the car which was hit were treated by paramedics at the scene.

Traffic was slow going for about an hour until the vehicles were cleared.

Green says a crew was working to fix the traffic light pole damaged in the crash.

Calls to the Vernon RCMP have yet to be returned.
