Excavator destroyed by fire in Kamloops
KAMLOOPS – An excavator parked at a construction site on the Westsyde in Kamloops was destroyed by fire last night.
A caller to 911 at about 10:38 p.m., Nov. 7, said they saw flames and thought someone was having a bon fire.
Kamloops Fire Rescue Platoon Capt. Steve Kilmartin says crews arrived to find an excavator at 856 Agassiz Road fully engulfed in flames. He says it is a piece of property under construction.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the damage was so extensive, they were unsuccessful at determining the fire’s origin.
The RCMP are involved in the investigation.
In a post on the Westsyde Neighbour Watch Facebook page, Shelley Smith Mervin has offered a reward for an arrest.
“Reward offered for any information leading to the arrest of the individual(s) responsible for setting the excavator on fire on Agassiz Road last night,” the post says.
