KAMLOOPS – A member of Kamloops Legion 52 crafted something he hopes will both honour veterans during Remembrance Day and support the local branch.

Jim McGhee designed, painted and built the Remembrance Day-themed, wooden Adirondack-stye chair, and donated it to the legion to raffle off.

When asked why he made the chair Jim McGhee pauses for some time before he says, “Just ‘cause.”

McGhee, a member of Legion 52 and a member of the Canadian Armed Forces for seven years, says he wants the proceeds from the chair's sale to go toward "keeping the legion alive." He built a similar chair for an event at the legion in Vernon and it raised $700.

Legion President Craig Thomson says what happens with the proceeds of the chair will be determined by how much is raised.

“We’re hoping a lot of people will see it because of Remembrance Day,” Thomson says

Each ticket is $2 and the winner will be announced at the end of November.
