PENTICTON — MLA Dan Ashton plans on keeping his promise to cover a portion of Penticton's by-election costs up to $35,000.
Ashton resigned as Penticton's mayor Wednesday, in person, at City Hall. He then stepped down as board chair of the Regional Okanagan Similkameen board, a position he's held for 12 years.
He said it was odd to step away from the two positions.
"It was a difficult day to be honest," he said.
Acting mayor Garry Litke said the city's corporate officer will come up with the by-election dates and plans and present them at Monday's regular council meeting. He also confirmed he still plans to run in the race for the mayor's chair.
