Water interruption for some Greater Vernon Water customers

VERNON – The water will be turned off for some Greater Vernon Water customers this Sunday.

A valve will be replaced at a pressure reducing station at the corner of Grey Road and Buchanan Road in Coldstream on Sunday, Nov. 18, according to a media release from the Regional District North Okanagan.

The water for residents on Mackie Drive, Giles Road, Grieve Drive, Pine Drive, Meadow Road, Bel Air Drive, Birch Drive and Cosens Bay Road will be without water from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Although the valve replacement could take longer if crews encounter “unforeseen circumstances,” according to the release.

Greater Vernon Water will also be adding a well on Kalamalka Lake Road, close to Highway 6, to the water supply to avoid low pressure or a loss of pressure to customers who get their water from Duteau Creek.

The water from the well has been tested, disinfected and provides safe drinking water, the release says, although you may notice the water is harder than normal thanks to the extra calcium carbonate in the well water.

If you have any questions or concerns, call Greater Vernon Water at 250-550-3700. There is more information on the regional district’s website.
