Vernon bear spray attack leads to charges
VERNON – A man is facing charges after bear spraying a gas station employee last week.
RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says a employee at Blue Moon Esso asked the man to leave the business around 5:25 p.m., Nov. 11, because he was banned from the location due to a previous incident.
The man then allegedly bear sprayed the employee, who was later treated in hospital.
Police launched an investigation and arrested James Clerihue, 52, the following day. He faces charges of uttering threats and assault with a weapon. Noseworthy says he has a history with police.
Clerihue is scheduled to appear in Vernon Provincial Court on Nov. 19.
