VERNON – Police only had to follow their noses to make a drug-related arrest earlier this month in Vernon.
On Nov. 7 officers were driving east on Highway 6 when they smelled a strong odour of marijuana, Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says in a release.
“They quickly determined that it was coming from the vehicle in front of them, which also had expired validation tags on its licence plate,” Noseworthy says.
Police stopped the vehicle and investigated further. The 26-year-old Vernon driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. He also failed a sobriety test and was issued a 24-hour suspension of his driver's licence.
“A large amount of money was found and the vehicle and has been seized as proceeds of crime,” Noseworthy says.
