OMAHA, Neb. – Just as summer is finally coming into view in Nebraska, an Omaha museum is kicking off its search for the perfect Christmas tree.
The Durham Museum is searching for the official tree for its annual Christmas at Union Station celebration. Every year, the museum receives submissions from Omaha-area residents offering to donate their evergreen tree for display.
The tree selected must meet certain benchmarks, including that it be over 40 feet tall, have a single, straight trunk, have a uniform shape and be in a spot where it can been safely removed.
This year’s tree will be cut down on Nov. 18, and a tree-lighting ceremony is set for Nov. 29.
Residents wishing to donate an evergreen tree may contact The Durham at 402-444-5071 before Aug. 1.
