Wildlife festival lands in Kelowna this weekend

KELOWNA – A traveling festival of wild animals from around the world is coming to Kelowna for three days this weekend.

Featuring birds of prey, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates, The Wildlife Festival has already made stops in Chilliwack, Hope, Kamloops and Merritt and will be at the Westbank Community Centre in West Kelowna Friday, Nov. 20 through Sunday, Nov. 22.

There will be birds of prey demonstrations by The Canadian Raptor Conservancy and Little Ray's Reptile Zoo while The Backyard Conservation Fund of Canada will be on hand with pythons, rat snakes, tarantulas, scorpions, tortoises and more with a Diversity of Living Things Show.

There will be 50-minute formal presentations by the Canadian Raptor Conservancy and Little Ray's Reptile Zoo throughout the day as well as 10 live animal exhibits.

Doors are open Friday from 1 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday between 9:45 a.m. and 5:15 p.m.

The festival will also make stops in Revelstoke, Vernon (Nov. 28 to 29), Nelson, Kimberly, Penticton (Dec. 5 to 6), Salmon Arm (Dec. 9) and Prince George.
