Sister of woman found dead last month is accused of first-degree murder
COQUITLAM, B.C. – A first-degree murder charge has been laid against the sister of a woman whose body was found in a Coquitlam, B.C., park last month.
RCMP say Pen Jung Tracy Chen was arrested in Minnekhada Regional Park on March 10 at the scene of where Ivy Chen’s body was found.
She was originally charged with indignity to a dead body and has been in custody since her arrest.
Police say the B.C. Prosecution service approved the additional charge of first-degree murder on Friday.
Sgt. Frank Jang of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says investigations continue without disruption despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tracy Chen’s next court appearance is Monday.
