
UPDATE: Highway 1 reopens in Kamloops following serious crash
KAMLOOPS – Highway traffic is being rerouted through town this morning following a vehicle incident on Highway 1.
Shorly before 5:30 a.m. a pickup truck and a tanker trailer collided on Highway 1 between the Yellowhead Highway exit and Peterson Creek Bridge. Kamloops Fire Rescue got the two occupants out of the pickup and they were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The pickup had caught on fire and because of concern the fire could spread to the tanker nearby residences were evacuated for a short time.
Drive B.C. reports the highway reopened in both directions shortly after 8 a.m.
RCMP warn the area will remain congested while crews clean up the area and are asking motorists to use alternate routes.
