Passengers escape Greyhound bus fire near Field

FIELD, B.C. – All the passengers escaped when a Greyhound bus caught fire yesterday morning on the Trans-Canada Highway near the Alberta border, but the blaze forced the major highway to close.

The bus caught fire yesterday morning, Nov. 19, roughly 15 kilometres west of Field on Highway 1, according to Golden RCMP.

All 26 passengers and the driver managed to get off the bus with no injuries reported, according to a RCMP media release.

The highway fully reopened by about 11 a.m., according to Drive B.C.

No word on what caused the bus fire.
