Kamloops Cannabis Society increases security after armed robbery
KAMLOOPS – A local compassion club is upping its security after staff were robbed at gunpoint last week.
The director of the Canadian Safe Cannabis Society Carl Anderson says he’s "disgusted" by the robbery and notes staff members are coping with help from Kamloops RCMP Victims’ Services branch.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 17, a suspect carrying a sawed-off shotgun entered the building on Tranquille Road. Anderson says the suspect made off with cash and marijuana, but hesitated to list specific amounts. Since the incident, Anderson made the decision to increase security.
“We've got cameras going in. We have a security guard coming in the afternoon," he says. "There’s not much you can really do about this stuff."
Anderson encourages anyone with information about the robbery to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
