Dream Auction one for the record books
VERNON – It will go down as one of the most successful dream auctions in the last three decades.
This year’s Kalamalka Rotary Dream Auction, the 31st annual event, raised more than $204,000, an all-time record according to organizers.
“The success is due to the enthusiastic donors who support the effort every year and of course the wonderful people who bid on these items to help us raise money,” Rotary Dream Auction chair Neil Perry says.
One hundred per cent of the money raised goes towards worthy charities and projects in the community, according to Kalamalka Clubs president Mary Jackson.
"Dream Auction has developed into Vernon's premiere fundraising event," Jackson says. "We're enormously grateful to all of the businesses, professionals and individuals who donate each year as well as the wonderful supporters who bid on all the items.”
Since it started 31 years ago, Dream Auction has raised more than $3 million for local community initiatives.
Community groups can begin applying for grants in January. Full details are available on the Rotary website under the 'Funding' tab.
