PENTICTON – The trial of four men accused of kidnapping and beating another man continued to move forward in Penticton court this afternoon, Thursday, Nov. 26.
Carey Anderson, Kerry James Ellis, Albert Edgar Fontaine and John Marshall Szanto are accused of kidnapping and aggravated assault, and other charges following a May 21 incident on Shingle Creek Road near Penticton.
Fontaine's lawyer, Norm Yates, told Judge Meg Shaw the parties have tried to get hearing dates for some time. The four accused are being represented by four different lawyers.
Judge Meg Shaw heard today two of the accused – Szanto and Anderson – elected to present their case in B.C. Supreme Court which automatically elevates all the co-accused to have their cases heard there as well.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 8, 2016.
