Local pub to hold fundraiser for Mandy and Me Trailriding

KELOWNA – Rose’s Waterfront Pub is holding a fundraiser for a West Kelowna woman who has to hand over the title to her five-acre ranch in a few weeks.

Silverado Socrates is the owner and operator of Mandy and Me Trailriding. A few years ago she was given a loan for $600,000, which was lost in a real estate investment that went bad. Her ranch was taken and sold to the highest bidder, leaving her with the task of finding temporary homes for 15 horses and a pig. She is also roughly $500,000 in debt.

Her run of bad luck continued this week when almost all the funds from a GoFundMe account were taken by a woman Socrates says she trusted.

She has since set up a second GoFundMe page to help raise money for hay and medicine, and to help out a local business is letting her use their pub.

The fundraiser is happening Wednesday, Dec. 2 from 7 p.m. until close. For $10 you get a choice of veggie, chicken or beef burger with fries and a beer, wine or highball. There will be live music, a silent auction and an opportunity to meet Socrates.
