UPDATE: Power resumes at Orchard Park Mall

KELOWNA – A power outage in Kelowna that shut down Orchard Park Shopping Centre this afternoon has been restored at 5:40 p.m.

Earlier this afternoon, shoppers already at the mall were being allowed to stay indoors while new shoppers were turned away shortly after noon today, Dec. 1.

A store manager at the mall said power flickered off and on a couple of times but wasn't restored until the evening. 

Most stores were shuttered but Christmas music continued to play in the mall.

Fortis B.C. said it was conducting line patrols to identify the outage and were working to restore the outage..

About an hour after the initial outage, power was restored to 295 customers. Another 300 customers were without power until it resumed this evening.
