Stolen tools found by Penticton police

PENTICTON –  Tools were stolen in Penticton while other tools were discovered in Okanagan Falls last week by Penticton officers, who also dealt with the aftermath of an icy Highway 3A this past week.

The owners of a trailer stored at Penticton Self Storage discovered a break and enter on their property Monday, Nov. 23, Penticton RCMP media spokesperson Don Wrigglesworth says. The trailer, which had been parked in the storage yard since April, contained a number of tools which are now missing.

On Nov. 26 police responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle parked in an Okanagan Falls trailer park. The driver of the vehicle was found to be an unlicensed, prohibited driver. A number of stolen power tools were found in the vehicle. The vehicle was impounded and the investigation is continuing. The man is known to police as a prolific offender.

Police stopped a pickup truck around 4 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, only to have the driver flee from the vehicle. Police dogs were called in but were unable to track the suspect.

The truck had stolen plates and was uninsured, however, it had not been reported stolen. The incident continues to be investigated.

Police also responded to a series of motor vehicle collisions in the Yellow Lake area of Highway 3A Saturday morning. Roads were reported to be slick in the area at the time. A second and third crash occurred near the location of the first, while police were investigating. No serious injuries were reported.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
