Labour Party activist reinstated after anti-Semitism inquiry
LONDON – A Labour Party activist who had been suspended while allegations of anti-Semitism were investigated has been cleared.
The party said Saturday that Jackie Walker’s suspension has been lifted and she remains an active member of the opposition party.
Walker was one of several Labour Party members under investigation for reported anti-Semitic comments.
She said her suspension had been provoked by the “right-wing press” and by people opposed to party leader Jeremy Corbyn, whom she supports.
Walker had posted Facebook comments that prompted the inquiry.
She said she has fought racism her entire life and does not intend to give up her right to speak frankly about political matters.
Corbyn has set up an independent investigation to determine if the party has a problem with racist attitudes in its ranks.
