Toronto Maple Leafs rookie William Nylander is out for Saturday’s clash against the Washington Capitals with an upper-body injury.
The team says the 20-year-old Nylander is day-to-day with the injury.
It’s unclear when Nylander was hurt as he took the morning skate on Saturday and practised Friday. He registered an assist in the Leafs last game, a 5-4 shootout defeat against the New Jersey Devils.
Nylander is tied for fourth in team scoring and fifth among all NHL rookies with 15 points.
Peter Holland replaced Nylander against the Capitals, joining the club’s fourth line with Matt Martin and Ben Smith. Nikita Soshnikov filled Nylander’s spot alongside Nazem Kadri and Leo Komarov.
