Collision shuts down northbound lanes of Highway 97 north of Trout Creek
PENTICTON – Northbound traffic on Highway 97 has been disrupted for a period of time this afternoon and evening following a two vehicle collision.
A statement issued by Drive B.C. issued at 6:30 p.m. indicated the highway was still closed following the collision, which motorist Tony Madeira says happened just in front of him at approximately 5 p.m.
The accident occurred about two kilometres north of Trout Creek, according to Madeira.
A local detour is available.
Madeira says police, Summerland Fire department and B.C. Ambulance were on scene. Extrication tools were needed to free the driver of one of the vehicles, which appeared to have collided head on, says Madeira.
The extent of injuries is not known at this time.
