TORONTO – Justice Minister Rob Nicholson says Canada is joining the Global Alliance Against Child Sexual Abuse Online.
The alliance, which includes the United States, the European Union and other countries, was started last December to help authorities better identify and assist victims of abuse and prosecute culprits.
Nicholson says the goal is to strengthen the fight against Internet predators and child abuse images online.
He says the international nature of online abuse requires international co-operation to bring criminals to justice and rescue victims.
No one country can do it alone.
The alliance also wants to raise global awareness of the scope of the problem.
