Clearwater man accused of murdering wife to stand trial
KAMLOOPS – A man charged with first-degree murder in the death of his estranged common-law wife will face trial after a Kamloops Provincial judge determined there was sufficient evidence for the case to move forward in court.
Iain Drummond Scott, born 1972, was arrested in Clearwater April 21, 2014, and has remained in custody since then.
The decision to order trial came yesterday, Dec. 14, after a preliminary inquiry concluded in provincial court. A preliminary inquiry examines all the evidence in the case to determine if it’s sufficient to run a trial.
Scott is accused of killing Angila Wilson, the mother of their three children under the age of ten. Wilson was found dead in her Clearwater home. The children were located at Scott’s home and retrieved after a lengthy police stand-off.
A date has not been set for the trial.
