Two semis collide near Peachland

An Oliver truck driver was sent to hospital last night after sideswiping another truck and crashing into a rock face just south of Peachland.

West Kelowna RCMP say the accident happened around 10:15 p.m. on Highway 97 South near Brent Road. The Oliver driver was headed north and crossed the centre line hitting the oncoming semi truck. The northbound truck continued off road left and impacted a rock face. The 49-year-old Oliver man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while the other driver suffered minor injuries.

Highway traffic was disrupted for roughly five hours while crews worked to remove the debris. The Oliver man will be ticketed for failing to stay to the right.
