CALGARY – Four-time Olympian Caroline Ouellette has been added to Canada’s roster for the women’s world hockey championship.
The captain of Canada’s Olympic team in 2014 replaces forward Haley Irwin, who is out with an undisclosed injury.
Canada opens the 2015 world championship March 28 in Malmo, Sweden, against the defending champion United States.
Hockey Canada named its 23-player roster last week and opened training camp in Toronto on Wednesday.
Ouellette ranks third all-time in scoring for the Canadian women’s team with 85 goals and 153 assists in 215 games.
The 35-year-old from Montreal won four Olympic gold medals with the Canadian team in 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014.
