Vernon city councillor shares favourite Christmas traditions

VERNON – We reached out to Vernon’s politicians to share their Christmas traditions and what they remember most fondly about Christmas with their families.

It’s a busy time of year for everyone, but one Vernon councillor took the time to reply to our questionnaire and give residents a bit of insight into her Christmas traditions.

Vernon city councillor Juliette Cunningham

Most people have a favourite holiday game, and Vernon city councillor Juliette Cunningham is no exception. Her favourite is the Grinch exchange.

Her favourite holiday song is Oh Holy Night, while the classic film It’s a Wonderful Life tops her list for favourite Christmas movie.

One of the first things that comes to mind when people think of Christmas is, without question, food. Many family traditions revolve around making the stuffing a certain way, or having cinnamon buns on Christmas morning. One of Juliette’s favourite Christmas foods is a French Canadian meat pie called tourtiere that she had as a child.

It’s not Christmas for Juliette without taking in one of Caravan Farm Theatre’s plays in Armstrong, which she describes as ‘always magical.’
