Kelowna resident wins $1M in Lotto 6/49

KELOWNA – Christmas came early for one Kelowna resident.

Tuong Van Mai won the guaranteed $1 million prize in the Dec. 16 Lotto 6/49 draw.

“When I checked my ticket before work I couldn’t believe I won $1 million because I never thought I would win that big. I was shocked and overwhelmed but I still went into work that day,” Van Mai says in a release.

She says she wants to share her new found wealth with her parents, saying she plans on celebrating with her family over Christmas dinner.

“The money will be put towards buying a new home for my retired parents because they have done so much to support me,” Van Mai says.

Her winning ticket was purchased at Superstore in Westbank.

Lotto 6/49 will have a special Holiday Super Draws on Dec. 23 and Dec. 26, with five guaranteed prize draws for $1 million each. These prizes are offered to players in addition to the regular Lotto 6/49 jackpot on both draws.

Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 7:30 p.m. pacific time. Each draw includes a guaranteed prize draw of $1 million.
