Update: 5:57 p.m. March 25
Kamloops firefighters helped rescue a small dog stuck in a drainage culvert late this afternoon.
The beagle-pug-boston terrier cross became stuck in the steep elevation pipe and wouldn't or couldn't come out. The owner, firefighters and local bylaw officers could hear the dog crying but couldn't coax him out.
They came up with a plan to run some hose down to stimulate him out but it appears the sound of the fire truck overhead was enough. As they got into position, the frightened little dog beat it out of there.
Update: 5 p.m. March 25
Firefighters are at 90 Bestwick Drive attempting to rescue a dog stuck in a drainpipe.
The call came in just after 4:30 p.m.
The dog can be heard whimpering and early thoughts on how to proceed include using a pole to push the dog along to freedom.
Public works was also called to help with the rescue, to offer advice on how to proceed. The bylaw officer was also called.
More to come.
