Male pedestrian dies of injuries after being hit by car while crossing road

SURREY, B.C. – Mounties in Surrey, B.C. are investigating the death of a male pedestrian who was hit by a car late Saturday afternoon.

Police said the victim was struck while crossing Scott Road between 71 and 72 Avenues around 5:20 p.m.

They said he was rushed to hospital by ambulance but died of his injuries.

The victim’s identity was not immediately released.

Investigators said the driver of the car remained at the scene and was co-operating with police.

They also said that neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be factors, however, that had yet to be confirmed.

Anyone who witnessed the incident was being asked to contact police.
