Driver flees scene of Kamloops car crash; caught by police dog
KAMLOOPS – RCMP tracked down a man, who fled the scene of a car crash, with a police dog this afternoon.
Police say the driver of a SUV northbound on Westsyde Road crossed into oncoming traffic at Rue Chez Nous around 12:15 p.m., Jan. 2, hitting a southbound vehicle.
The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to a RCMP media release.
The man behind the wheel of the SUV took off on foot before police arrived on the scene but a police dog tracked him to the Oak Hills Boulevard area where he was caught getting into a taxi, police say.
A 30-year-old Kamloops man is facing charges of dangerous driving causing bodily harm and failing to remain on the scene of an accident.
