Coroners wanted: Eight vacancies including Kamloops and Vernon

VICTORIA – The hunt is on for people to fill vacancies at the B.C. Coroners Service.

The government has job postings up for eight community coroners in communities throughout B.C. including Kamloops and Vernon.

The $25 an hour job isn’t for the faint of heart as coroners are responsible for determining the circumstances of sudden, unexpected and unnatural deaths.

According to the job description for the “as and when required” positions, successful applicants will conduct a preliminary investigation into the deaths.

They will attend the scene of the death, work with police and emergency first responders, examine the body, and provide family members with information and guidance.

The work does not include preforming autopsies.
