Lillooet murder case will proceed to trial

KAMLOOPS – A man accused of murdering a 61-year-old man in Lillooet will stand trial after a preliminary inquiry concluded last month.

Crown prosecutor Chris Balison appeared in Kamloops Supreme Court today, Jan. 4, to schedule time to fix a date for Jeffery Harris’ murder trial.

Harris, also of Lillooet, allegedly assaulted Gary Mandseth in February last year. The senior sustained serious injuries which he succumbed to later in hospital.

A preliminary inquiry is a provincial court hearing to determine if sufficient evidence is available to proceed with trial in supreme court.

Balison will appear before a judge on Jan. 18 to determine a date on which the trial can begin.
